Regional network
The CIEH has a regional structure based on London, the eight English regions, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every member belongs to a region and benefits from access to a range of activities including networking and training events. Members may also choose to join a Special Interest Group (SIG).
The CIEH regions mirror those of the Government Offices and this helps us to maximise our impact and influence regionally as well as nationally. The 11 CIEH regions are led by a management board; they do not have fixed premises or paid employees. However the Directors for Wales and Northern Ireland work closely with their CIEH regional networks to maximise influence with regional assemblies and other stakeholders.

Special Interest Groups
As well as belonging to a region, members can elect to join a Special Interest Group (SIG). There are nationally-based SIGs for EHPs working in Port Health and the Commercial and Independent sectors. Members interested in international environmental health may want to join the International Special Interest Group.
Any 50 members can petition the CIEH Council for the establishment of a SIG covering their particular area of interest. Petitioners are required to demonstrate that their needs cannot be met adequately at a regional level.
