Research

Conducting a piece of research is an excellent way of developing your own knowledge, while also supporting the whole profession by contributing to the environmental health evidence base.

The CIEH publishes a dedicated environmental health research journal, to which members and other EHPs are invited to submit papers.  The Journal of Environmental Health Research (JEHR) comes out twice a year, normally in April and September. Abstracts of the papers are distributed to CIEH members with EHP magazine and the JEHR is published in full on this website.

All research papers are subject to peer review prior to publication. For information on the requirements of JEHR and how to submit a paper, read the Guidance Notes for Authors.

The CIEH has set up a research fund to help members meet the costs involved in conducting research. Grants of up to £3,000 are available.
