Professional development
All professionals need to undertake professional development throughout their careers to keep their knowledge and skills refreshed. Environmental health practitioners are no exception.
To support you in building your knowledge and skills base and developing your career, the CIEH runs a comprehensive education, training and events programme, with courses, conferences, seminars and events throughout the year.
Our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme gives members a structure for maintaining full competency and staying on top of the job.
By going on to take the Assessment of Professional Development (APD), members can become eligible for Chartered status.
The ultimate accolade, for those who have made an outstanding contribution to the profession, is to be awarded a Fellowship by the CIEH Council.
Conducting a piece of research is an excellent way of developing your own knowledge, while also supporting the whole profession by contributing to the environmental health evidence base. Papers can be submitted for publication in the CIEH’s Journal of Environmental Health Research.
