Key Worker Living Scheme

The Key Worker Living Scheme is now available to environmental health practitioners (EHPs), helping provide vital support to you as frontline public services staff priced out of the communities you serve.

Qualified environmental health practitioners will be able to apply for a loan to help you buy a home on the open market; or qualify for shared ownership where you buy 25 percent of the home and pay a reduced rent on the remaining share.

The scheme is to be restricted to EHPs with a household income under £60,000 and living in London, the South East and East of England but if you already own a home you to could receive help to buy a larger property.

Those eligible must be qualified EHPs who have completed their environmental health degree, the practical/experiential learning portfolio or equivalent, professional examinations, and are registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB).

To obtain an application form and confirm your eligibility you will need to contact a HomeBuy Agent - the registered social landlord that markets the housing schemes on behalf of the government - in your area.

The CIEH cannot confirm your eligibility for the scheme, but further information is available here.

To view details of the HomeBuy Agent for your area and to see further information on upcoming open days please click here.
