Work-based learning and the ELP
Whichever way you choose to study – full time, part time or distance learning – work-based learning is an integral part of becoming a qualified practitioner.
Students can undertake work-based learning at a time of their own choosing and in any organisation that delivers environmental health as a whole or in parts.
Universities normally help students to find work-based learning placements, and opportunities are also advertised in local newspapers,Environmental Health News (EHN).
During their practical training placement, students have to successfully complete an Experiential Learning Portfolio (ELP) to record evidence of their learning and skill development. This is an important requirement for entry to the Professional Examinations.
