Policy

The Policy division is responsible for the development of our policy and practice in all areas of environmental health: public health; environmental protection; housing; food safety and hygiene; and health and safety at work. 

Our work includes:

• Developing and representing our policy and practice to external agencies, including government
• Lobbying regional assemblies, regional agencies, and national and local government for improvements in health legislation and policies
• Responding to consultation documents on behalf of the profession
• Promoting environmental health at European and international levels
• Providing support to the Policy Development Board
• Liaison with other professional bodies and non-governmental organisations
• Providing speakers at conferences and seminars
• Media interviews and public awareness projects
• Facilitating the involvement of specialist advisers in the development of policy
